Grant Description
Grants to Georgia nonprofit organizations in eligible locations to enhance the quality of education for local children. Funding is intended to provide support for either instructional or capital projects that promote academic achievement. Programs must benefit children in the City of Comer in Madison County.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be classified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)(3) public charity.

Ineligible
Funding is not typically provided to support start-up nonprofits or programs that are not yet established however, these can be discussed.

The foundations do not consider grant requests from individuals and do not support organizations attempting to influence policy through direct lobbying or any political campaigns.

Pre-Application Information
The application deadline is June 1st. Please submit online applications by 11:59 p.m. If the application deadline date falls on a weekend or a federally recognized holiday, the deadline will not be extended, therefore applications must be submitted on the prior business day by 11:59 p.m.

Applicants will be notified of grant decisions by letter within 1 to 2 months after the deadline.

Term of Contract
Grants from the J. William Gholston Foundation are primarily 1 year in duration. On occasion, multi-year support is awarded.
