Grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 to Tennessee and Georgia nonprofit organizations in the Greater Nashville, Chattanooga, and Upper Cumberland regions for programs that address breast health and breast cancer. Applicants must attend a mandatory training session before applying.

Komen Central Tennessee supports breast cancer projects that address the funding priorities below, which were selected based on data from the current Community Profile Report, found at:

The funding priority areas are:

  • Patient Navigation
  • Reducing Barriers to Care
  • Breast Cancer Education

All applicants are required to develop project objective(s) to reduce breast cancer mortality by addressing disparities, increasing access to quality and timely care, and/or improving outcomes through patient navigation. All projects must have at least one Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Time-bound (SMART) objective that will be accomplished with Komen funding and can be evaluated including an estimated timeline and the anticipated number of individuals to be served.

  • Salaries and Fringe Benefits
  • Consultant and Sub-contracts
  • Supplies
  • Travel
  • Patient Care
  • Other Direct Costs
  • Indirect Costs, not to exceed 15 percent of direct costs.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Applicants may request funding from $10,000 up to $50,000 (combined direct and indirect costs) mobile mammography programs and up to $20,000 (combined direct and indirect costs) for other internal breast health-related programs).

Term of Contract:

The performance period is April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021.

Eligible applicants:

Applicant has documentation of current tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Service code.

Applicant must be a non-profit organization located in or providing services to one or more of the following counties:

- Chattanooga Region– Marion, Grundy, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Rhea, Hamilton, Meigs, Bradley, McMinn, Polk, Dade (GA), Walker (GA), Catoosa (GA), Whitfield (GA), Murray (GA), and Fannin (GA).
- Greater Nashville Region– Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Maury, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson, and Wilson.
- Upper Cumberland Region– Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, Van Buren, Warren, and White.

Current grantees are eligible but funding is not guaranteed year to year.

If the applicant or any of its key employees, directors, officers or agents is convicted of fraud or a crime involving any other financial or administrative impropriety in the 12 months prior to the submission deadline for the application, then the applicant is not eligible to apply for a grant until 12 months after the conviction.
